With virtual sessions, you can choose to focus on optimizing performance and decreasing pain with functional movement patterns, or you can focus on improving nutrition & lifestyle habits, or you can combine these two services.

Movement specific sessions will emphasize the importance of optimizing functional movement patterns we utilize in daily life (squatting, lunging, bending, pushing, pulling. etc.).  Based on anatomy and biomechanics, there is a specific way to perform these movement patterns to maximize the body’s efficiency.  You can probably get away with deviating from correct form to some extent, but this will typically have long-term consequences as you age.  For example, if you have a stiff thoracic spine or tight hips (hello sitting all day), you have a greater chance of developing low back pain with squatting or bending tasks. When one area of the body is stiff or weak, another area of the body will work extra hard to compensate for this deficiency.  During our training sessions, we will work to identify and correct any compensation patterns you have developed over time.​

Nutrition coaching sessions will not only help improve your eating habits, we'll consider all aspects of deep health (physical, mental, emotional & environmental) and help you to establish the foundational lifestyle habits needed for long-term success with your health.

A BIT ABOUT ME

Hi, thanks for being here! I'm Emily, a functional movement expert, physical therapist and nutrition coach.

 

After working as an orthopedic physical therapist for over ten years, I began to realize the importance of taking a whole-body approach to more effectively treat aches & pains.  About this same time, after having gotten through the crazy toddler stage of raising twins, I started to work on improving my own health & fitness and soon realized the importance of proper nutrition to feel & function your best.  

 

In addition to the education & virtual coaching services I offer on this site, I also still work part-time at a local therapy clinic in Kansas City that embraces my same ideals.  Regardless if you utilize my online coaching services or see me for in-person guidance, my mission is the same: to educate & empower individuals of all backgrounds to optimize their health through functional movement and sustainable nutrition strategies.

 

Outside of working with movement & nutrition clients, I stay busy with family life and do my best to keep up with my 9 year old twins!  I also enjoy playing tennis with my husband and spend as much time outdoors as the KC weather allows.  Maintaining my energy levels with regular exercise and eating a healthy, balanced diet has been vital to helping me get it all done. I hope to inspire you to feel that positive energy as well!
